Join the Team

Are you interested in joining our team of volunteers to help build this platform? We’re always looking for ambitious people who want to take initiative. Please feel welcome to fill out an application. We’ll reach out to you the next time we have an opening that caters to your strengths and interests. If you have any questions about joining the team, you can also reach out here.

Our Themes

Our articles fit under at least one of three overarching themes and address topics that can be found within them. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Personal development: Psychology, mental health, self-awareness, cognitive biases, discipline, and productivity.
  • Spiritual development: God-consciousness, purification of the heart, Prophetic character, and the ego.
  • Community development: Leadership, teamwork, community organizing, institution building, and service.

Article Styles

Our articles can be written in first, second, or third person, and fit one of four styles:

  • Reflection: Sharing thoughts on personal or observed experiences, relating them to broader issues, and showing how they can contribute to growth and development.
  • Directive: Offering a solution to a problem, or an answer to a question, in a manner that highlights the role and potential of the individual.
  • Analysis: Extracting lessons from shows, movies, books, and other forms of popular media that nurture thoughtful, conscious, intentional engagement.
  • Summary: Drawing upon a single source, such as published research, books, or book chapters, with the permission of the author, explaining their message in a more accessible manner, and offering reflections or commentary when helpful.

Articles should have a clear central message. We recommend a word count of 1000-1600 for most articles except summaries, which can surpass that, but we are open to publishing longer pieces as a series or shorter pieces over 600 words that provide sources for further learning.

Submitting an Article

We want to amplify the insights and experiences of people from all backgrounds, ranging from students to scholars. You can begin the process by submitting an approximately 300-word pitch or a completed draft, as a Google or Word document, by email to contact@thinkbites.org, with “Article Submission/Pitch – Your Name” as the subject. A pitch is not a prerequisite to submitting a draft. Submission of content by any individual to Thinkbites is considered acceptance of our Terms of Agreement.

If you are submitting a draft, please also include:

  • A short biography (education, career, community experience, and/or interests)
  • An image you’d like to use as your headshot (does not have to include you or your face)
  • Links to your social media pages and website, if you have any
  • The theme(s) (personal, spiritual, or community development) that best describes your article, and the topic(s) that you primarily addressed
  • The style (reflection, directive, analysis, or summary) that best describes your article

Please remember to include links to any external sources that are referenced and citations in the footnotes for any texts that are referenced. If we are interested in your pitch or draft, we will respond via email with our notes and feedback. Please note that this work will not be compensated financially. We are an entirely volunteer-run organization.

For more details on what we’re looking for in submissions, see What Makes a Thinkbites Article? Please read our Contributor Agreement before submitting.
